Head of Space Operations and Spacecraft Management Authority. Airbus Defence and Space

Des joined Airbus (Paradigm) as part of the Spacecraft Management Authority in Sep 2007 looking after the fleet of Skynet 4 and 5 spacecraft for the MOD. He took on the additional role of Head of Space Operations in 2009 and became Deputy Head Space in 2017.

He has been involved with all of the Skynet 5 launches carrying out the role of Mission Manger and Decision Authority. Des was also the project manager for moving Skynet 5A to the pacific area of operations and installing a ground station in Australia.

Des started his career in 1987 with the RAF and was OC Space Segment at RAF Oakhanger.
